Our Solutions

An all-volunteer run organization founded in 2005, we ensure books for all Collier kids:

  • Early childhood experts select top-quality, age-appropriate books and then Books for Collier Kids purchases them in-bulk from The First Book Marketplace or the First Book – Book Bank: $500 provides a book a month to every child in a classroom
  • 140,000 personalized, new books distributed to 10,700 children annually
  • 400 classrooms in 32 Collier County elementary schools, Head Start pre-K and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten programs reached
  • During 2022-2023, Books for Collier Kids added Osceola, Collier Charter and Gulf Coast Charter elementary schools, working towards the goal of serving all Collier County Public Elementary schools.

How we do it

Buying Power!

BCK purchases first-quality new books at a fraction of the retail cost. $500 provides a book a month (10 or more books) to each disadvantaged child in a pre-K, K, first- or second-grade classroom each year.

Collaboration!

Working closely with teachers, our Distribution Chair (a Ph.D. level educator) selects titles that support classroom curricula, strengthen reading skills and help families bond as students re-read their books at home with loved ones.

Volunteers!

An all-volunteer charity, we rely on our supporters to sort titles, address books to the children and oversee distribution. We’d love to have you join us and help get a book into the hands of every child in Collier County.
